The terms that apply when you purchase and use a PistonProof Buyer Check.

2. The Buyer Check service
A PistonProof Buyer Check is a remote assessment of one specific vehicle based on information and evidence reasonably available to us at the time of the review.
Depending on the vehicle and information available, the assessment may consider matters including:
the vehicle advert and seller claims;
available MOT and mileage history;
claimed modifications and build configuration;
evidence supplied by you or the seller;
model-specific areas that may warrant further investigation;
available market information and comparable advertised vehicles; and
questions, checks or evidence that we consider relevant before you proceed with the vehicle.
The precise information available varies between vehicles. We cannot guarantee that every category of information will be available for every Buyer Check.
3. What a Buyer Check is not
PistonProof is a remote buyer-intelligence service. A Buyer Check is not a physical or mechanical inspection of the vehicle.
We do not dismantle, drive, scan or physically examine the vehicle unless a separate service expressly says otherwise.
A Buyer Check does not guarantee:
the mechanical or physical condition of a vehicle;
that seller statements or documents are genuine or complete;
that a vehicle is free from hidden faults;
future reliability;
the accuracy of information held by third parties;
that a particular vehicle represents a suitable purchase for your personal circumstances; or
the price at which a vehicle will ultimately sell.
Where appropriate, we may recommend that you obtain a physical inspection, diagnostic assessment or advice from an appropriately qualified specialist before purchasing a vehicle.
4. Information you provide
You are responsible for providing accurate information reasonably required for us to carry out the Buyer Check.
This may include the advert URL, vehicle registration, asking price and relevant seller messages or evidence.
You should only provide documents, messages, images or personal information that you are entitled to provide and that are relevant to the requested assessment.
Our assessment may be affected if information supplied to us is inaccurate, incomplete, unavailable or subsequently changes.
5. Third-party information
A Buyer Check may rely on information from vehicle adverts, public records, data providers, market listings, documents supplied to us and other third-party sources.
We take reasonable care when using this information, but third-party information may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated or subsequently changed.
Where something is a seller claim, an inference or has not been independently verified, we aim to distinguish that from information we have been able to substantiate.
6. Price and payment
The price of the standard PistonProof Buyer Check is the price displayed at the point of purchase. The current launch price is £14.99 for one vehicle.
Payment is taken through Stripe.
Your order is for the vehicle submitted in connection with that purchase. A separate vehicle normally requires a separate Buyer Check unless we expressly offer a bundle or alternative product.
7. When we provide the service
Our current target is to deliver a completed Buyer Check within 24 hours after we have received the information reasonably required to begin the assessment.
If essential information is missing, we may contact you before beginning or completing the assessment.
Occasionally circumstances outside our reasonable control may delay delivery. If a material delay occurs, we will contact you as soon as reasonably practicable.
8. Your cancellation rights
If you are a consumer purchasing online, you will normally have a legal right to cancel a service contract within 14 days after the contract is entered into.
Because PistonProof is designed to begin investigating your vehicle promptly, we may ask you to expressly request that we begin providing the service during this 14-day cancellation period.
If you make that request and subsequently cancel before the Buyer Check has been fully performed, you may be required to pay an amount proportionate to the service supplied up to the point at which you tell us you wish to cancel, where permitted by law.
If the service has been fully performed after you expressly requested that performance begin during the cancellation period and acknowledged that you would lose your cancellation right once the service was fully performed, your statutory right to cancel the service will end at that point.
These provisions do not affect any other statutory rights you may have where a service has not been provided in accordance with applicable consumer law.
9. Problems with the service
We will provide the Buyer Check with reasonable care and skill.
Where applicable consumer law gives you a right to repeat performance, a price reduction, refund or another remedy, nothing in these Terms removes or restricts that right.
10. Decisions about a vehicle
PistonProof provides information to assist your vehicle-buying decision. The decision whether to view, inspect, negotiate for, place a deposit on or purchase a vehicle remains yours.
A Buyer Check should be considered alongside the vehicle itself, the seller’s evidence and, where appropriate, an independent physical or mechanical inspection.
Vehicle condition and market circumstances can change after a Buyer Check is prepared.
11. Our responsibility to you
We are responsible for losses that are a foreseeable result of our breach of these Terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill.
We are not responsible for losses that are not a foreseeable result of such a breach.
PistonProof is provided for consumers purchasing vehicles for private use. We are not responsible for business losses such as loss of profit, revenue, business opportunity or business interruption where the Buyer Check was purchased wholly or mainly for business purposes, to the extent permitted by law.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or your statutory consumer rights.
12. Intellectual property
The PistonProof website, report design, branding and original report content are owned by or licensed to PistonProof and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
When you purchase a Buyer Check, you may use the report for your own personal vehicle-buying purposes and may share it where reasonably necessary in connection with that vehicle.
You must not reproduce, resell or commercially exploit PistonProof reports, templates or original content without permission.

14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as PistonProof develops or legal and operational requirements change.
The Terms that apply to your purchase are those made available to you when you place your order, subject to any rights or requirements imposed by law.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you may also benefit from mandatory protections and rights available to you under the law applicable where you live.
Nothing in these Terms prevents you from exercising any right you have under applicable consumer law regarding where proceedings may be brought.
